I’ve made so many mistakes. Hurt so many people. Who I want to be is not a reflection of what I’ve done. Maybe not even what I will do…because I am human. I am a sinner. I will make mistakes. I will never be perfect. But I can work on being better each day.
There is hope that tomorrow will be better than today…for all of us. No matter what. Our past and our choices cannot define us, they do not define us.
We start each day with a new opportunity. A fresh start. A clean slate. You have to know that. You have to believe that. The world is rooting for you. Supporting you, and encouraging you to take the steps. To be who you want to be, who you can be. The best version of yourself. Even when you can’t, I believe in you. Don’t give up. Start again.
You can. You will.
I am. I will.
So many things battle to define me:
Abuse, alcoholism, depression, selfishness, co-dependency, reckless choices, self-hate, anxiety, expectations, body image, hate, death.
When I’m feeling weak, these “traumas” become excuses. When I’m feeling strong, they fuel me to be better, to work harder.
For years I worked to achieve, and to keep myself busy from dealing with the after effects of my experiences. Through reflection and the help of others, I am ready to share, with no purpose other than freeing myself, and a little hope it may inspire others.
