Meanwhile, the world moves on.
The sun rises. We scurry about. Work get done. Ball games get played. Meals are made and shared.
The small joys and sorrows of life are present. But you are not.
And in that I am not sure how to feel.
Grateful to know there is no more suffering. I have hope in where you are and joy in knowing who you are with. And still, this emptiness nags.
Begs for your smile, your laugh, simply your presence.
Even with time that void carries weight.
And as life goes on, I begin to find solace in that ache.
A physical reminder of you. Of love. That I can keep with me in the incredible joys and deep pains of it all.
You are here. Just beyond the veil.
I know that. I feel it in my bones. But I long for more.
Until then I will meet you in the stillness. In a song. In a warm breeze. And I will be grateful for that.
