An invitation
met with hesitation.
Prayer.
Thought.
Consideration.
Then surrender.
Not my will,
but yours
be done.
The day came
to fulfill
the call.
I felt
the weight,
the importance.
My heart raced.
My hands were sweating.
I didn’t hear a word.
All I could do
was pray,
“Come Holy Spirit.”
Then the moment…
You carried my legs.
You quieted my mind.
You calmed my body.
You opened my heart.
I received the gift:
pure, holy, surreal.
I turned to give,
and my eyes were
made new.
The beauty.
The love.
The holiness.
Each pair of eyes.
Each set of hands.
Hungry.
Ready.
Yearning.
To be loved.
To be cared for.
To be yours.
How great thou art.
How grateful I am.
