A Prayer for Us in the New Year

Lord,

Please help us see and feel how significant we are. Help us find peace in the fact that the journey hasn’t been and won’t be perfect. Life is full of suffering and we are imperfect. In the toughest moments or steps backwards, help us to remember You are there extending grace and mercy, welcoming us right back into Your arms.

Remind us that we are deeply and profoundly loved not for what we do but for who we are, and no matter what. Keep all the positive affirmations we have ever received, and the vision of who we are at our best front and center. That is the truth. That is who You made us to be. Keep revealing that to us at every step.

Calm our anxiety, encourage us to reach out when we could use support, and show us that we are not alone. This is a road that so many others have walked too. Life is hard: the pain, suffering and loss are so real and hurt so much…and Your divine grace and beauty is there in it all. A reminder that this life is a chance to refine our soul and become more like You. To do the good in the world that we can, and then surrender, knowing that only You can make things right in the end.
